When some people learn about a dementia diagnosis for someone they love, they might cry knowing what's coming; others might dig into research; some might deny anything is going to change, and others are just plain overwhelmed and have a hard time moving forward.
Me? I've prayed, I've researched, I've reached out to those who may have gone before me with a similar experience, and I've connected even more with my family. My tendency, though, when I encounter something new, is to get so involved I have a hard time stopping, and my mind gets filled with too much information and too many thoughts. When my mind races in circles I know I need to distract myself and calm my nerves.
Some women cook ... some women clean ... I create! This blog is being created as a place where I can sort through the information I will gather, and keep notes about what our family experiences as we navigate this unexpected journey of my Dad's dementia diagnosis.
